ALGERIAN NATIONAL COUNCIL DELEGATION VISITS NAVAL SHIPYARD GDYNIA

Algerian National Council delegation on the invitation of the Senate of the Republic of Poland toured the Gdańsk-Gdynia area and on December 2nd, 2003 paid a visit to Naval Shipyard Gdynia. Algerian delegation headed by Mr. Abdelkader Bensalah, Chairman of the National Council and Mr. Tedjini Salaouandji, Ambassador to Poland was accompanied by a group of Polish Senators headed by the Chairman of the Senate of Polish Republic Professor Longin Pastusiak. Distinguished guest were received by the shipyard Managing Director Mr. Klemens Pyszka and his deputies.

Algerian Delegation had visited NSG production facilities and then moved to the conference room for the audio-visual presentation of the production capabilities and current offer of the yard addressed to Algerian customers. Algerian guests had expressed their interest in the presentation and the offer. Both parties had agreed on the viability of further development of trade contacts between Polish and Algerian enterprises.

 

STERN TRAWLER FOR CANADIAN OWNER

Naval Shipyard Gdynia currently has a contract for conversion and completion of a stern trawler „Newfoundland Lynx” for Canadian Owner Fishery Products International based in St. Johns. The hull of the trawler was delivered from the Danish shipyard. The hull is being lengthened by the insertion of the 9 m long new hull section prefabricated at Naval Shipyard Gdynia. The conversion and outfitting work will be completed in the first half of the year 2004.

Stern trawler „Newfoundland Lynx” will be capable of processing and freezing fish onboard. The catch will be mainly bottom fish (flatfish, turbot etc.) and bottom/pelagic species (redfish) as well as prawns (shrimp). The ship will operate at the North Atlantic and along the East Coast of Canada. „Newfoundland Lynx” was designed according to the DNV class notation +1A1, Ice class 1B (1A for hull) Stern Trawler, EO.

Passenger ferry for Finnish Owner

Naval Shipyard Gdynia is currently fitting out the double-ended passenger ferry ordered there by Helsinki City Council. The vessel has been designed as a 350 person passenger ferry for year round service between the Helsinki market square and the island Suomenlinna. The ship is scheduled for delivery in January 2004.

The ship is designed by Finnish design office ILS OY for Det Norske Veritas class notation DNV 1 A1 EO R3 with ice class ICE 1A. Special attention has been paid to the design of the ice-going manoeuvring properties of the vessel, so that the ferry is able to maintain the traffic schedule even in poor weather conditions.

The propulsion of the vessel consists of two electric driven Compact Azipod azimuth units mounted fore and aft.

 

 

Naval Shipyard Gdynia is awarded AQAP and ISO certificates

In a special ceremony arranged on 22 October 2003 Naval Shipyard Gdynia was officially awarded certificate for compliance with the ISO 9001:2000 standard and AQAP-110 certificate for compliance with NATO standards.

Director Marian Pławiak of Military Centre for Quality, Standardisation and Codification and director Andrzej Świderski of Quality and Management Systems Institute hand over the AQAP-110 certificate to Mr. Klemens Pyszka, Managing Director of Naval Shipyard Gdynia.

First ISO 9001 certificate was awarded to Naval Shipyard Gdynia in the year 2000.

The new ISO 9001:2000 certificate was issued by American Bureau of Shipping and Polski Rejestr Statków (Polish Ship Register).

The NATO standards compliance certificate AQAP-110 was issued by Quality and Management Systems Institute existing within Ministry of National Defence structure.

 

 

Launching of a fishing vessel

Partly outfitted fishing vessel ordered by a Norwegian Owner was launched at Naval Shipyard Gdynia on 22 October 2003.

This fishing vessel named Herøyfjord is designed for fishing in the North Sea area. The ship is fitted with RSW tanks for fish and can carry frozen fish.

 

 

"Złoty Kompas" (Golden Compass) for Naval Shipyard Gdynia

Naval Shipyard Gdynia was awarded prestigious "Golden Compass" (Złoty Kompas) prize by Polish Navy monthly magazine "Bandera" (The Flag). Golden Compass Committee awarded the prize to NSG for complete reconstruction and modernisation of three Polish Navy minesweepers "MEWA", "CZAJKA", "FLAMING" into minehunters. After completion of modernisation programme conducted at NSG vessels were assigned to MCM FORNORTH - part of NATO Rapid Reaction Forces.

Conversion and lengthening of EDT PROTEA

Naval Shipyard Gdynia currently carries out works on m/v EDT PROTEA (ex Geco Saphire) of Cypriot shipowner EDT Towage & Salvage. Wide scope of work includes complete conversion of the vessel and her lengthening by insertion of over 15 m long new hull section.  

The conversion will enable the radical change of the ships role from that of seismic vessel to ROV and dive support dynamic position class 3 ship. Contracted work also includes change of conventional propulsion system into diesel-electric azimuting propulsion installation.
